Cherry blossom season in Christchurch

'Spring arrives softly in a sweeping blush of cherry blossom'

Take a moment to enjoy the beauty because it will not last. In Japan 'cherry-blossom season' is a time of celebration. Families go out and take photos of the cherry blossom. It has long been seen as a symbol of impermanence. Yesterday the petals were already being lifted by the breeze and fluttering to the ground.

When I see the cherry trees blossoming along the edge of Hagley Park, I know that spring has at last arrived. It's good to celebrate the seasons because it reminds you that things always change. If you face obstacles or negativity in your life, you can remember that this, too, will pass. And wherever you are, or however you are feeling, the world is there waiting to cradle you in its beauty.
