It was an astonishing reflection of a cloud! So I clicked away, using all the settings I had on my camera! Between first light and sunrise, you have about half an hour. But for capturing the rich and interesting colours, you really only have 15 minutes. I squandered those minutes on this scene.
So then I had my half hour walk to do, which took me along the causeway and back. I had to allow the traffic noise to be part of the experience, ie listening without judgement. And as I got back into the car I was feeling so much better. The practice had carried me through. The word practice – it means commitment; it means repeating something over and over… until you get it right… until you get better at it. I am still practising at self-care, I suppose. In time it will be second nature. Today I am thankful for the practice – for carrying me.
Do you have a practice that carries you? I'd love to hear about it.
