In Buddhism there is the story of 'the second arrow', which refers to the pain felt when you fret about the first arrow. In other words, the world can hurt you, but after that you can choose how much it continues to hurt you by your reaction. Concentrate on dealing with the first arrow; don't wound yourself with a second arrow that stems from you blaming yourself or needlessly worrying about the first one! And this is true in all sorts of life situations in small and large ways.
So though my day was a bit foggy, I know the light is there – it's always there. And the sun will come up tomorrow. If it doesn't - we are ALL in trouble.
