At first I tried to stay calm and walk quickly as maybe I was near their nest (although I thought seagulls nested in cliffs?). So I carried on walking but the birds didn't let up. Then I tried waving my arms around and shouting as they came in really close, so close I could feel the feathery flap of wings go past my face! So I took out my camera to see if I could get a photo. Here is one of the rogues about to divebomb!
I thought about the message behind the antics of my feathered friends (cos I'm not taking it personally – I still love birds, even seagulls). Perhaps they are showing how easy it is to unwittingly stumble into trouble that is nothing to do with us. Naturally the first thought is that we have done something wrong – but no, the problem is entirely separate. If we are in the wrong place at the wrong time, we can get swept up into it. The lesson? Stay out of other people's dramas.
I hope that the birds don't remember me tomorrow (!)
