After my walk, I began thinking on the subject of sharing. It's good to share our gifts and our insights. The sharing of information is what makes humans human – it's how we connect, evolve and prosper. But there is sharing and there is stealing – two quite different energies. Sharing is a willing and benevolent act of giving while stealing... well, we all know what that is. Recently I became aware that there is an app that people can use with Instagram to download hi-res images. This made my heart sink a little. While I like to share my images – and I'm happy for people to repost them – I do expect a credit (in the case of Instagram that means a tag). It is the courteous thing to do. There is also a thing called copyright, quite an established legal instrument, in fact, but I won't get into that right now.
So what do I do? Stop posting on Instagram in fear of being ripped off?
No. I choose trust, not fear. The fact is I want to share my photos and my insights, for what they are worth. So I just have to continue posting in the belief (and I really do believe this) that most people are kind. MOST people do the right thing.
We shall see what happens. This is a journey of 40 days and the fun of it is not really knowing where it will lead. So that is two weeks done and dusted!
If you have been enjoying my photos – please post a comment here, or connect with me on Facebook or Instagram. I would love to hear your thoughts.
